With perfect September weather (sunny,  blue skies, and temps in the 80s) the GAD 2012 fair was enjoyed by thousands of attendees who shopped, snacked, danced, played, visited and toured on the grounds at Meadow Farm.

We had our largest ever turnout of beautiful classic and custom autos and trucks at the 2012 GAD Car Show. Thanks to all who participated and admired the vehicles. The weather was absolutely perfect for a car show this year.  Several autos appeared in the GAD 2012 Parade…  be sure to review that photo gallery as well!

Sept 15, 2012 was a beautiful day for Glen Allen Day which spurred high attendance for the GAD Parade on Mountain Rd. and for the fair and other activities which followed at Crump Park.

The Glen Allen Ruritans are greatful for the community participation at Glen Allen Day 2012 and for the support of our sponsors and contributors. A special thanks to the personnel of the Henrico County Division of Recreation & Parks for allowing us to present Glen Allen Day at Crump Park. The phenomenal efforts given by all park staff help us to make each year’s celebration possible. We look forward now to Glen Allen Day 2013, which will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013.

Scheduled to appear in the Glen Allen Day 2012 Parade are the Acca Shriners with their mini cars, clowns and hillbillies; two high school marching bands: Hermitage High Marching Panthers and Glen Allen High Cougars, local elected officials and candidates, and many more colorful entries.

Elmer L. ThomasGrand Marshall – Glen Allen Day 2012
Elmer L. Thomas, a lifelong Virginian and Glen Allen resident for more than 50 years has been named Grand Marshall of the 2012 Glen Allen Day celebration.
Elmer served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in France and Germany. Upon returning home, his career with Virginia Power (VEPCO) spanned 35 years until his retirement in 1988. Elmer’s faith and love of service and community have guided him to be active in his church and various …
