14th Annual Glen Allen Day Parade and Fair to be Held Sept. 18, 2010

14th Annual Glen Allen Day Parade and Fair to be Held Sept. 18

The 14th Annual Glen Allen Day Parade and Fair will be held Saturday, September 18th, 2010. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Healthy Lifestyles”.

The Glen Allen Day 2010 Parade will begin at 9:30AM on Mountain Road at John Cussons Drive and will proceed westbound along Mountain Road, turning right entering Crump Park and ending at RF&P Park. The parade Grand Marshall will be Mr. Tom Anderson, recently retired long-time Glen Allen Elementary School music teacher.

The Glen Allen Day Arts and Crafts Fair featuring local artists, crafters and other exhibitors will begin at 10AM and continue until 4PM. The Glen Allen Ruritan Club will cook and sell pork barbecue, hot dogs and hamburgers. Proceeds will benefit the Glen Allen community.  A variety of refreshments and treats available for purchase will be provided by event sponsors in an outdoor food court format.

Family fun and games will be featured including a live petting zoo, clowns and face painting.  The Glen Allen Day Custom/Classic Car Show is open to all makes; prizes will be given to winning autos. To download an entry form, visit our website.

Live entertainment on two stages. Among those scheduled to appear onstage are local musical groups: Julius Pittman & The Revival, Gypsy Roots, and The Virginians.  Live martial arts demonstrations by Master Cho’s Tae Kwon Do will be given onstage.  Dance demonstrations will be performed by Glen Allen Dance Center, Wistar Jazzercise and Central Virginia Dance Academy. The North Run Baptist Church Choir and Hermitage High School Keynotes will perform, and Lauren Swisher, a recent Hermitage graduate, will sing the national anthem at the opening ceremony.  A spirit demonstration will be given by the new Glen Allen High School Jaguar cheerleaders.
